The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Maybe you’ve asked yourself during the present season, “Is anything happening?”.
In 2020, the Roma Learning to Fly team found itself asking this question. At that time, we were holding training workshops for Roma parents, we were planning to build chicken coops as a means of micro-enterprise, and we discovered a way to reach reluctant communities by providing playgrounds for Roma children. All of these activities were ways to demonstrate the gospel, to give people a tangible way to see the favor and love of God. And then it seemed that they all came to a grinding halt.
Over the last two weeks, our team has been together in Slovakia, and we are encouraged that despite COVID, the war in Ukraine and family health crisis’) the work of the Lord has continued, and even flourished.
- We are developing new relationships and partnerships that will help move the Discover curriculum forward and expand it into new areas.
- Our team in Slovakia worked to answer questions about how to make the chicken coops a long-term activity.
- The playground was completed and dedicated in the village of Vtáčkovce and plans are already underway for more playgrounds.
- Roma church leaders came front and center with relief for refugees and out of that have begun to develop community centers as a way to demonstrate the good news and at the same time to plant new churches to preach the good news.
Despite the challenges and limitations that we face, the Lord’s work continues.
In just a few days we will share video clips to give you an even better understanding of what is happening.
The Lord, people like you, our national partners and Roma Learning to Fly make a good team.
We look forward to sharing some results of that partnership.
